Q: What is CBD (cannabidiol)?

A: CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound from the cannabis plant. It is a naturally occurring substance that is used in products like oils and edibles to impart a feeling of relaxation and calm. Unlike its cousin tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), it is not psychoactive. 1

Q: Will CBD get me high?

A: No. The cannabis plant is made up of two main players: CBD and THC. CBD is the nonpsychoactive portion of the plant, which means that you won’t have any effects like euphoria.1

Q: Where does hemp oil come in?

A: The terms cannabis, marijuana, and hemp are usually all tossed around in relation to CBD. The plant Cannabis sativa has two primary species, hemp and marijuana. Both contain CBD, but there is a much higher percentage in hemp, which also has very low (less than 0.3%) levels of THC compared to marijuana. When people talk about hemp oil, they are referring to oil extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant. There are no cannabinoids—CBD or THC—in hemp oil. This ingredient is packed with healthy fats and often appears in beauty products for its moisturizing benefits.1

Q: Is CBD legal in South Africa?

A: The Minister of Health in South Africa on the 23rd May 2019, signed new legislation permitting the sale and distribution of low dose CBD products to the South African public. This gazette makes it officially legal for anyone, be they a registered pharmacist or a marijuana advocate, to sell any product or concoction containing CBD without needing a prescription from the buyer. This new exemption is a significant change to the original restrictions of dagga-derived medicine in South Africa, which only allowed a select number of registered people or companies legal access to sell and make such products. The exemption comes with two conditions however; firstly there is a maximum daily dose of 20 milligrams of CBD allowed, and CBD products cannot be advertised as a cure or treatment for any specific condition, but only as a way to relieve minor symptoms or for general health maintenance. 3, 4

Q: Is CBD safe to use?

A: Yes, to date there is no evidence of any public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.2

Q: Why a CBD cream?

A: The therapeutic use of cannabis and cannabinoids is becoming increasingly common in the treatment of
dermatologic conditions and inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, pruritus, psoriasis, allergic contact and atopic dermatitis. CBD may stimulate our skin’s cannabinoid receptors to regulate inflammation, pain, lipid production and cell proliferation. CBD has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which makes it suitable for everyday use and in dry skin conditions.5, 6

Q: What is a DSV Locker?

We are in partnership with DSV to bring the Locker pick-up point option.
The DSV Locker is a state-of-the-art, smart digital locker providing secure, convenient delivery option.
DSV lockers have more than 230 points around the country. Each locker is connected to a secure network
which controls and manages each locker’s behaviour and the parcels being delivered or collected – 24/7.
The lockers are fully ‘aware’, at all times, of parcels due for delivery, and how and when to notify the
intended recipient when the parcel is available for collection. Any unauthorised parcels or collections
will not be processed. Each locker consists of a physical structure (the exterior frame), a predefined

number of doors, smart locks, closed circuit television (CCTV) and a built-in computer responsible for
the management of the doors as well as bi-directional communication between a client’s system,
the intended user, parcel tracking services and the DSV transport management system. Users are notified
a parcel is ready for collection as soon as it has been delivered into a locker.  Each notification includes a
unique and secure pin code, QR code and interactive directions on how to get to the locker. The user enters
the secure pin code or scans the QR code, and the locker opens the correct door for the parcel to be collected.
Users receive a collection reminder every 12 hours, and if not collected within 48 hours, the parcel is returned
to the sender.
